This is…idk, our fourth or fifth Rex Manning Day drinkalong? I know this is only the third record of it here on this blog, but we definitely did it a time or two on twitter.
Happy Rex Manning Day, y’all. Here are some bingo cards I made a few years ago (you can just click to mark the square and refresh once you have a bingo, though these are pretty dangerous IIRC). Also, I wrote this post about the soundtrack last year.
❤ you all, see you tonight!
I have stuff to do. See you tonight!
I know the rules are tough. #SorryNotSorry
I don’t fucking care, I like this movie. Shut up.
(Unless there are objections, I was thinking about doing Emperor’s New Groove next week?)
I have nothing to say. I’m super tired.
Elin is relatively new to drinkalongs, but already it feels weird if she can’t make it.
Wish her a happy birthday, but don’t die over these hardcore rules she set up.
I’m not writing a post cos I’m spending today colouring and watching Dragons. See y’all tonight!
This has been one of my favourite movies since I was teeny tiny. I’ve seen it more times than I can count, and yet, the only other time we’ve done it as a drinkalong (for my birthday, no less) I missed most of it cos I got FaceTimed by a friend I hadn’t talked to in forever and spent the whole movie alternating between talking to him and singing along with the movie.
Anyway, that means I’m looking forward to it.
Be safe, don’t drink yourself sick.
ps. Extended Edition, yo.
I actually had plans to write something about this movie today. I wrote the rules up last night (whaaaat, I was prepared?!) and was all set. But then I got up today and the internet was down, and I had pretty much decided I was just going to spend the day binge re-watching Dragons with the boys so we can get started on the new season. Then the internet came back and I have no interest in doing anything else. So. Here you go.
When I was in junior high, I went through a total Meryl Streep phase. The movies I watched endlessly were this, She-Devil and Death Becomes Her. I have no idea what sparked the interest, but I do remember seeing Carrie Fisher’s name in the credits and getting a little angry when I read the book. Yes, even 13y/o me was a total pedant.
It feels gross to write a drinking game for this movie, so I’m not going to do it. But I just watched the first half of it to find the scene pictured above so I could make this gif (seriously, internet, why are you so terrible sometimes, the only gif I could find of this scene was teeny and not even the part I wanted) and it’s just as funny as I remember it being. It also made me sorta sad, but that’s to be expected.
I’ll see you guys tonight. ❤
Ughhhhh, I’ve been sitting here for the last hour trying to come up with rules and the only thing I could actually come up with was “drink when you realize that this movie is actually super sad.” But, like, that is either not enough or TOO MUCH so I’m just doing nothing this week.
Except…we lost Carrie Fisher at the end of December. We’ve talked about doing Drop Dead Fred for YEARS. It wasn’t until I brought up doing a Carrie Fisher month that we finally put it on the schedule. There’s no reason we never got around to it, other than that I kept forgetting every time I wrote the damn thing.
Idk. I can’t even brain enough today to talk about how sad her death has made me. You all already know what just her existence meant to us. I’m happy I get to watch some of her non-SW stuff with you over the next month. I’ll try to do better with rules in the future, but can’t promise anything. ❤
